No Royalty-RO did not shut down and I have no intentions of shutting down Royalty-RO. However our server host seems to have gone offline, I’m trying to get in contact with them now.

As for why I have been away for so long, on October 31st (yes Halloween) I had a very upsetting situation arise; to make things worse it was finals week… This server reminded me greatly of what caused the upset in my life so I took a break from it for awhile. I’ll be hosting extra MVP giveaways and releasing new Rare MVP cards when the server is back online, I’ll also be announcing the winner of that MP3 Giveaway and hopefully hosting some other tech giveaways. First thing is first though and that is attempting to get the server back online.

To start the month off we’ve released a huge forum update, so here is a list of just some of the new features.

• A brand new layout, which you can set the colors of (there is a slider right under the search bar).
• A chat system built into the forums (top bar).
• An award system where users can gain ribbons to show off in their profile and posts (we’ll start releasing ribbons soon).
• Statistics on posting stats can now be found in each users profile.
• Users can now add a song to their profile with the option of having it on the homepage of the forums as well (auto-play is optional).
• Quick Quote will allow you to quote only the text which you’ve highlighted in a post instead of the whole post.
• Youtube videos and some other forms of media now work.
• Clicking on the “Pips” (circles) under a users rank will now show a list of how many posts are required to get each rank.
• Sub-forum descriptions appear when you however over the sub-forum name.
• If you open a forum and put your mouse over a thread name it will display both the first and last post (useful for trade threads).
• Lists of who’s read a topic should now appear in each thread on the first post (still testing).
• The ability to lock down a forum so each member can only post once is now available.
• Other stuff (not as important or cool, you’ll find it eventually).

I just felt like saying thank you to everyone who plays on this server. I’ll be starting up college again next week, but honestly I’ll have more time to take care of the server while I’m in college then I’ve had during summer. I’ll have four day weekends and I plan on taking at least half of one of those days each week to just add new content. You have no idea how much I’ve been thinking about the server and how much I’ve been wanting to do updates, but thus far have been unable to due to family matters.

New books have appeared in the book shop so check to see if there’s any you need.

We’ve released a new book shop which contains books that will guide you to hidden quests. Each book gives you the starting location of a specific quest so be sure to read the description before purchasing one. Every book can only be read once so make sure you write down the start location. Each book will add to amount of books your character has read, this feature isn’t currently used for anything but in the future will be shown in the Hall of Fame. Book prices currently range from 10 to 50 million Zeny each.

Our old server host was having issues keeping our RO server online, it would randomly block all inbound connections and their staff wasn’t helpful in getting our systems back online (their answer was simply: reinstall everything). I purchased a new server with a different host with the same specs as our old server, so hopefully this one will be more reliable but only time will tell. So if you noticed outages in services over the past 72 hours, that is why and hopefully it won’t happen again

In case you somehow didn’t know, our Admin Melissamosh had her birthday yesterday so why don’t you head over to the thread and wish her a happy late birthday if you haven’t already. Also this is your last chance to login and get your hands on a special Achievement that is being handed out for her birthday by the Kafra in the Royal City (just walk near her).

Invasions are now more deadly then ever, Kiel, Ifrit, Valkyrie Randgris, Amon Ra, Tao Gunka, Garm, Moonlight Flower, Stormy Knight, Dracula and Fallen Bishop Hibram will now randomly attack one of ten different cities.

If you have anyone else in your house who plays Royalty-RO you probably figured out by now that you were able to only login 3 clients at a time from your house. We’ve fixed that so it’s now 3 clients per computer, meaning if your brother is playing in the other room you can still login 3 chars at a time. This also means if you have a group of friends over with their laptops you can all take on Endless Tower together or own some noobs in PVP

Users were being rejected from the server from 6 PM to 9 PM, I couldn’t figure out why because I was able to login just fine (the issue wasn’t affecting me). I reinstalled Royalty-RO and to force the issue into my PC so I could figure out what it was. I located the issue and fixed it, so if you’re still having issues logging in please let me know. You can contact me using the Live Help button on the left side of the homepage (royalty-ro.com), by e-mailing me at support@royalty-ro.com, by messaging me on the forums, or by joining our Teamspeak 3 server and talking to me there. We carried out a major server update in preparation for the upcoming modifications we’re going to be making, the planned downtime was from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM server time. The downtime was delayed and began at about 5:50 PM and was finished by 5:59 PM. This update requires that you patch to Royalty-RO Version 8.2.3 otherwise it will not let you login, so please patch.

The patcher now displays the announcements found on the homepage so you can see event updates without having to go to the homepage each day and you can see game updates on the homepage without having to start the game.

• Fixed Star Gladiator being unable to get Union skill.

I know I haven’t been making very detailed update posts, but thats because it just makes life so much easier on me. However I felt that this NPC was important enough that it deserved its own post. We’ve added a new Hall of Fame NPC which can log the users with the most Skulls (only PVP ones), Achievements, Unique Achievements & Hours Logged. It will also log how many books you’ve read in the future, but for now that isn’t implemented since we have no books yet. This NPC can be adapted to log other things as well such as most Rare Cards, Loyal Pets and more (however we haven’t planned that yet). Anyways the NPC is a big floating valkyrie/angel right in the middle of the main city, can’t miss her

• Recoded the website to be a little bit more clean but also load a bit faster for people with slow connections.
• Created Wonderballs & Food Baskets.
• Added Hello Kitty Rucksack.

• Chung E Capture Item (TanTan Noodles) has been fixed and can now be used.
• Automated SQL backups are no longer only at midnight, instead they now occur every six hours.

• You can now reset your “Feeling” maps on a Star Gladiator by visiting the NPC at “@warp home 137 157″.

• Lottery NPC now gives out 1 Million Zeny Coins instead of putting your Zeny into a separate bank account.
• Cards are now big again when dropped.
• Cluckers now strips users of their gear to make the game more fair for all users.
• Derek’s Birthday 2011 Achievement is no longer available.
• Custom Item Colorizer & Slotter will be split into multiple NPCs during the next server restart.
• Someone has successfully completed the requirements for Valentine Day Egg to hatch, so all users will be able to hatch their eggs after the next server restart.

Just as a reminder: Dead Branch Party this weekend (as well as every other one) at 11 A.M. server time on Saturday, so gather some dead branches

Also: I’m going to do my best to make at least 2 to 3 updates/fixes per day from now on and I’ll probably post them like this instead of each fix having its own post because that just takes to long.

Oh and here are some updates I did during final that you’d probably like to know about.

• GTB has returned to the original settings RRO had for it.
• Households can only have 3 characters logged in at a time.
• Users can now use @alootid, @alootid2 and @alootid3 to autoloot up to three items at a time.

You can now buy coupons for 3 donation credits each (or 2.5 if you buy 4 at a time) that are good for 1 set of super buffs from the Great Buffer.

The Great Buffer also no longer casts Enchant Deadly Poison.

If you’ve ever been buffed by someone and wanted the buff gone then you can now have them removed by the Super Buffer. If you have access to the Super Buffer and you get buffs you won’t be able to enter PVP for 1 hour (to make sure all buffs have worn off), you can however bypass this wait by having the Super Buffer remove your buffs. This includes if a GM buffs you, but of course you can remove the buffs yourself. This also means if GMs host a PVP match they can remove the Buffs from both players before the battle to even out the playing field

Have you ever wondered if you missed a card drop? Every have a day where everything goes wrong like this: “Today I killed 14 MVPs… why didn’t I get any cards… OH CRAP I FORGOT TO AUTOLOOT!” Well you can say byebye to those days because thanks to a sprite mod made by “SilverStream~” you’ll never miss a card again… well unless you’re blind.

Many of you will be glad to hear that the camera view angels have been fixed on maps such as Abbey01, 02 and 03.

All card removals will have a 100% success (meaning you won’t loose, or break, anything) rate and be completely free for a few days due to a recent change in our equipment system. So if some of your equipment got moved around and you’re upset because you now have multiple cards in the same slot you can stop freaking out because now they’re free to remove (note: this is a great time to mess around with builds and card combinations lol).

We now have a Live Chat button on the homepage which you can use to contact the staff whenever you need to. If the button says “Online” you’ll be put into a direct 1 on 1 chat with a member of the staff, if it doesn’t say online it will open an e-mail form which you can contact us with (most e-mails will be responded to within 24 hours). Feel free to use this to report errors, glitches, problems in general or just drop in to say Hi.

Users have recently voiced how upset they are with the lack of GM activity, due to this we’re going to be accepting EM & GM applications in the near future. For now Melissa and I agreed on a new EM to add immediately, that user is EM Magik. We hope you’ll all agree with our decision and enjoy the events she hosts.

In case you haven’t already heard Melissa and I (Derek), the two server owners, are on vacation at the moment. During this time, until June 6th, don’t expect a lot of updates to occur however when our vacation is over here are a few updates you can expect to occur (though some may occur sooner).

• WOE being changed to 2, possibly 3, times a week.
• Forum thread allowing users to submit headgear requests (headgears which we don’t currently have).
• Forum thread allowing users to submit item effect requests (items with specific effects).
• Forum thread allowing users to submit quest requests (quests for items which cannot currently be obtained).
• Forum thread allowing users to submit quest ideas (lists of items and plot/story lines for how to obtain certain items).
• A call for new GM Applications.
• New achievements, equipment and cards.
• Updated pet and mining shop.
• Release of the book shop with books read being added to the Hall of Fame NPC.

That is just some of the things, I plan on doing a lot more but the list would be rather long so I won’t place it all here

Don’t attempt to impersonate a GM, this includes acting like a GM or making a character with GM in their name. It doesn’t matter where you put GM in the name (GM Name, or, Name GM, or, Name GM Name), or how you create GM such as “GlVl” “GIvI”. If you are found to be impersonating a GM all of your accounts will be ban.

In response to the server dying and having to be recovered from a previous data dump which caused for a loss of about 13 hours of gameplay progress we’ve opened discussion on what we can do to make it up to the users. Please let us know by leaving your thoughts and feedback in the thread below.

The server went down and was not allowing outside connections. I attempted to fix this issue with our server host, however they weren’t willing to do anything for us. This is very upsetting because it means I needed to reinstall the operating system manually and reload from a server backup however this backup was at least a few hours old so some game play has still been lost. I’ll be discussing a way to make up for this loss of data and server downtime at some point tomorrow or Monday.

Its finals week (well 2 weeks) at my college, so if I don’t respond to something right away or get a bug/mistake fixed asap that is why.

As you may have noticed I didn’t release any major updates this past weekend, in fact I didn’t release any updates at all. There are a number of reasons for this but the main three are as follows.

• Developing a program to stop players from logging in more then 3 characters at a time (don’t worry for those of you who are family we’ll make exceptions and allow you each to have up to 3 online).
• Modifying @alootid to allow looting of up to 3 items (we’re hoping to get more then 3 but for now we have 3 prepared).
• Creating an Anti-GTB card and restoring GTB to 100% power.

The first two changes are running stably so once our GTB mod is done we’ll be ready to update the source & scripts on the server. The second modification is already considered to be in effect, though not installed I have given our staff permission to kick any users found to be idling more then 3 characters at a time.

We currently have no planned release date but we’re shooting for sometime this weekend. Please understand that this week and next week are my finals in college so I’m extremely busy and you may not see many patches, mods, updates, fixes etc etc during this time.

You may notice that if you were afk your characters have been logged out. A server restart occurred to allow updates to be done, noticeable difference will include the fact that the V-Day event NPC is now gone and the mine quest is 100% working again.

This event will be held by Admin Melissamosh and Admin Derek on Saturday April 23rd, at 11:00 (a.m.) server-time. It’ll be held on a random map that we’ll warp you to. Please be present at the start of the event, we won’t wait until you login to begin.

Start gathering Dead Branches, all the Dead Branches you find will be used in during the event! We’ll be gathering all of your Dead Branches before the event begins and then releasing them around the map at random. This means the more you collect, the more we’ll have. We’ll release the monsters around the map and also throw in a couple of surprises, so be ready! Any items/cards you receive are fair game so you can keep them!

This Saturday, April 16th at 11:00 A.M. server time Admin Melissamosh and I will be hosting a dead branch party. Everyone will be warped to a random map and the Admins will begin releasing the dead branches the users have collected so start gathering as many dead branches as possible because the more you gather the more awesome it will be! We’ll also be using some Bloody Branches and handing out prizes depending on how many people show up ^_^

The long awaited Garm Hat can now be quested, I can’t tell you anything else for now… but check back in a week or so and maybe we’ll give you some hints.

Its been just about a week since this quest was first released, so I figure its about time we announce it publicly for those of you who haven’t found it yet.

If you warp to mid_camp (209, 288) and go inside the portal you’ll find yourself in an underground crypt. Locate the mining operation and do the quest to get access to the mining fields. Mine enough ore and you can buy some awesome gear like this Alexandrite Amulet.

You can now purchase a Falconer’s Glove which will give you a pet falcon that follows you around,

You can also now purchase a Merchant’s Ring which will allow you to vend from any character, or just look awesome with a push-cart!

You can now buy coupons for 3 donation credits each (or 2.5 if you buy 4 at a time) that are good for 1 set of super buffs from the Great Buffer.

The Great Buffer also no longer casts Enchant Deadly Poison.

In case you haven’t hear yet, you can now find Pori Pori in Payon Field 04. When you kill Pori Pori you’ll get an achievement that will allow you to find Angeling, Deviling and Arcangeling Ruckies

In a lot of fps and mmorpg games I’ve noticed nifty Achievements you can get for doing all sorts of things. Then I noticed these didn’t exist on any RO server I knew of… so what better thing to do then make them on Royalty-RO? After a lot of coding and testing, I’m glad to finally announce Ragnarok Online Achievements.

You can get them for doing all sorts of things, including killing mvps, hunting ygg berries and more. The effects can range from healing your character each time you kill a certain monster to increasing drop rates of rare items and the best part is: You don’t have to pick them up, they’re automatically put in your inventory, and to gain the bonuses all you have to do is keep them in your inventory.

Multiple new rare MVP cards are here for your enjoyment including Turtle General, Golden Thief Bug and Memory of Thanatos.

A few rare cards can only be found in booster packs including Moonlight Flower and Tao Gunka! (these will be added to normal drops later).

New Rare MVP cards with special bonuses have made their way to Royalty-RO. For now only “Rare Ifrit” card is available, but expect to see every MVP card with a “Rare” version out soon! These cards can be found in 2 ways, the first way is by killing the MVP. These cards aren’t as common as the non-rare versions but you never need to worry about missing the card because their picked up by the automatic autoloot system. The other way to get Rare MVP cards will be announced shortly. As a final note, when a Rare version of a MVP card is placed in an item the prefix or suffix it grants has a [R]- in front of it, so for Ifrit its [R]-Inferno. This allows you to easily tell whether you have a Rare card in an item or not without having to open the item and check each card individually.

I have a cold, so there weren’t any major updates this weekend besides redoing the websites update/post system. I’ll try to finish the remodeling of the download page soon and I plan to add Crunch Toast [1] and Poring Ruckie [1] as monster drops next week so hopefully you guys will like those.

Poring Ruckie [1] will drop from Porings in certain areas (I’ll post where when I announce the release). I’m not sure what Crunch Toast [1] will drop from so if you have any suggestions let me know… We could always make it something where you turn in Crunch Toast + some stuff to get Crunch Toast [1]. Let me know which you would prefer on this thread.

The Monthly Letters and Boxes for October will be released tonight at around 9 to 10 PM server time and will remain in the shop until November 8th (again we apologize for the late release). You can already purchase the November Letters in the Donation Shop for 25 credits, however Donation Boxes are being discontinued (read more here) We’ve also replaced the Yellow Donation God Helms & Wings with Blue ones for the month of November.

In an attempt to remove confusion when planing character builds we’ve decided to create a system for where head-gears are equipped. The system works as follows,

Upper: Helmets, hats and other objects which are placed on-top of, or above, your head.

Mid: Items which are placed on your face (Crunch Toast, Etc), the sides of your head (Sigruns, Etc), and decorative items such as Ruckies, Tails, Backpacks and Auras.

Lower: This slot is being reserved for Wings at the moment.

NOTE: These changes will, for the most part, not be applied to official Ragnarok head-gears.

The Merchant Ring has had its stats changed, and is no longer being sold in the donation shop. If you wish to get a refund, please talk to the Kafra after the next server restart. She’ll take care of the refund process.

Rare Cards will now slot on the proper equipment & multiple cards have had their descriptions updated.
